In a society driven by media, high technology, scientific advancements and entertainment -- the conference will explore "Who is GOD?". The Nature and Characteristics of God from the perspective of different faiths and philosophical traditions.
The World Religions Conference (WRC) is an annual multi-faith event which brings together learned scholars from the world’s major religions, providing them an opportunity to speak on a common topic from the perspective of their respective religious traditions. For twenty-nine years WRC has been serving as an invaluable means for bringing different religious and ethnic communities together in a manner which breeds tolerance, peace, cooperation, and understanding amongst the different religions within our society. This event is now considered as one of the largest Multi-faith events of its kind in Canada.
This year, the 31th World Religions Conference is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 with all its famous traditions at the Humanities Theatre, J.G.Hagey Hall of the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
The event is expected to draw several hundred from the region. Several local, provincial and national leaders are expected to attend and deliver greetings at the event. Carefully selected renowned speakers representing Aboriginal Peoples' Religions, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Sikh Religion and Humanism (Atheism) will participate at the event. Faith groups will setup displays and participate in religious cultural presentations.
The premier organizer and sponsor of the event is Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada. Cooperation and partnership includes several cities, academic institutions, faith based associations, Student clubs and numerous other organizations.
With free admission and lunch, and great chance to learn and meet others from a multitude of faith and philosophical communities, it is a small step to make this world a more peaceful world to live.
